Presidents’ Day was first established in 1885 in recognition of President George Washington. The holiday falls on the third Monday of February every year.

Now, it’s a day where we recognize all 44 U.S. presidents past and present. Donald Trump currently serves presidential term #45. Interestingly, there are only 44 individuals presidents, since Grover Cleveland served non-consecutive terms during terms #22 and #24.

In honor of Presidents’ Day, we decided to take a look at the heights of our Presidents, past and present!

Did you know…

  • James Madison is the shortest Presidents in history at 5 ft 4 in tall.
  • Abraham Lincoln is the tallest at 6 ft 4 in.
  • 23% of presidents have been 5’8″ or under. These 10 presidents stand at 5’8″ and under.
  • 71% of presidents have been above-average height. These 31 presidents stood taller than the average U.S. male height of 5’9″.
  • Interestingly, in U.S. presidential elections, the taller candidate is twice as likely to become president. Let’s change that!
